The Sensory Garden is complete!
The community sensory garden is now complete. It has been such a pleasure to build the garden for all our residents to enjoy. It has plenty of seating for you to sit quietly and relax within the array of beautiful plants and trees. Based just under the very old oak trees, there is always a variety of birds around and it is wonderful to sit and listen to them. The garden is open to everyone and is fully accessible, so do pop along and explore it.
A huge thank you to all of the resident volunteers who responded to our pleas for help. The team have helped with the initial concept and design of the garden and worked hard to get the plants in the ground. Some now pop by regularly to keep it looking so lovely doing a little weeding, dead heading and planting.
Our latest project has been planting hundreds of spring bulbs, so it there will be an explosion of colour come the spring with daffodils, crocuses, hyacinths etc.
Gardening is a great way of getting out into the fresh air, meeting other people and keeping you moving. We are looking to grow our group of gardening volunteers, so if you can help – once a year, once a month or once a week – then we would like to hear from you. Ground works on the sensory garden (adjacent to the community centre, on Crookham Park) are now complete. A huge thank you to Edward and his team at Xardin Ltd for creating our beautiful garden.
The second phase of the project is now underway and we have been working on a planting plan. We can’t wait to get started and bring the garden to life with trees, shrubs and flowers! If you would like to help plant the garden do get in touch with Rebecca at events@churchcrookham.org.uk or call us on 01252 626793.
Church Crookham Parish Council is hoping to provide a sensory garden in the heart of the community adjacent to the Church Crookham Community Centre. A place where users of the centre and those that visit the open spaces can find a tranquil space to sit amongst a beautifully designed space to stimulate senses. It will include accessible footpaths and seating, art installations, beautiful planting, a defined boundary to provide screening and a sense of place. See the initial design which we welcome feedback on and will use to develop the ideas to bring this scheme into being……..
